Shaniya Davis Update 20 November

Mario McNeill, the pervert who murdered little Shaniya Davis, was charged with raping and strangling the girl. He has admitted to kidnapping Shaniya (Probably in hopes of getting a lesser sentence, not out of the kindness of his heart.) He will be charged with first degree rape of a child and first degree murder.

Her mother,Antoinette Davis is charged with trafficking and child abuse involving prostitution. They should charge her with slavery. I think that if they are going to charge her with human trafficking they might as well take it the extra step.

Where Was Shaniya Davis Killed?

Authorities in North Carolina said Wednesday that they will need to determine where the killing of a 5-year-old girl occurred before additional charges are filed in the case. The body of Shaniya Davis, who was reported missing in Fayetteville last week, was found Monday beside a road near Sanford, which is about 30 miles northwest of Fayetteville, police said.
The girl's mother, Antoinette Nicole Davis, has been charged with human trafficking and other offenses, and another suspect, Mario Andrette McNeill, has been charged with kidnapping in the case.
A Tuesday statement from the Fayetteville police says that jurisdiction is "governed by where the criminal conduct occurred. Right now, this is an ongoing investigation and as such we are still determining the details surrounding the death of the child."
On Wednesday, Fayetteville Police Chief Tom Bergamine said jurisdiction will need to be determined before other charges are filed.
He did not elaborate on what charges might be pending.
"Several of the details regarding the investigation have a direct impact on which county will assume jurisdiction and prosecute this case," Bergamine told reporters at a news conference.
"The district attorneys from the involved jurisdictions are discussing the matter and ultimately will make that decision," he said.
Fayetteville is in Cumberland County, while Sanford is in Lee County. The district attorneys from those counties did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment Wednesday.
Davis reported her daughter missing last week from their home in a mobile home park. According to police, surveillance video taken November 10 from a hotel in Sanford shows Shaniya in the company of McNeill.
"The investigation at this point indicates that Shaniya Davis was alive at the time she left the Sanford hotel," police said.
Following Davis' arrest over the weekend, police spokeswoman Teresa Chance said Davis had been "prostituting her child."

Shaniya's father, Bradley Lockhart, made a tearful appeal before reporters Tuesday afternoon, asking that "everybody makes it a point not to ignore, to look past a situation where a person, a child, or anybody might be in danger ... so that we don't have another tragedy like Shaniya."

 These perverts didn't need to kill that girl. What they did was horrible, but the sad truth is that it happens to thousands of children every year. But those unfortunate children are given the chance at escape: foster care, the other parent or relatives, even adulthood. But they killed Shaniya anyway. They should receive the death penalty if for no other reason than that. She would have been scarred for life, but she would have had a chance to build a better life sooner or later. And that crack head mother of hers is ten times more guilty than anyone. You don't prostitute your child to pay a drug debt. A mother's job is to protect her child from the evil out there in the world. There should be special punishment for her. It's the South, weren't they lynching people not too long ago.

Family Asks County For Damages After 8-Year Daughter Is Arrested

Her family is asking the county to pay half a million dollars in damages because the girl was handcuffed and taken to juvenile hall. The Bonner County Prosecutor's Office originally charged Evelyn with battery, but later dropped the charges.

Haylee Donathan Found

A 4-year-old Ohio girl who vanished more than three weeks ago was found alive and in good condition, halfway across the country in southern California, authorities said.

Haylee Donathan, her mother Candace Watson and Robbie Potter were discovered hiding for the past week at The Morning Star Ranch, a retreat in Valley Center, near San Diego, said Peter Elliott, United States Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio.

Potter is a registered sex offender, officials said. He was being sought by the U.S. Marshal's Service.

Late Tuesday Haylee was in the custody of a children's protective services agency in the San Diego County area, Elliott said. She was doing well but may have chicken pox, he added.

"We understand she is healthy and happy and I believe, waiting to come back to her grandmother here," he said.
The journey west took them more than two thousand miles from Mansfield, the north-Central Ohio city where the girl and her mother live.

"I am very happy that my granddaughter's coming home," said Mary Watson, Haylee's grandmother. "And I just want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart."

Watson, 24, and Potter, 27, were arrested without incident and held by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. When asked their reaction, Elliott said, "I believe a little shocked that we were able to find them."

Potter and Watson were still using the same vehicle, a 1980s blue Chevrolet pickup truck they drove from Ohio, Elliott said.

Watson's hair was a bit darker and Potter also changed his appearance slightly.

Authorities had feared Haylee was endangered. Potter, a sex offender, had escaped a half-way house on May 28, the day the girl and her mother fell out of sight.

Countless tips came in while they were missing but one in particular led to the breakthrough on Tuesday, Elliott said without elaborating.

But a tip from members of the ranch could have lead to the raid and arrest, a ranchmember told CNN.

Kevin Carlin, a member of the ranch in the neighborhood of Valley Center, told CNN in a telephone interview that ranch members became suspicious when a former ranch guest saw billboards urging help in finding Haylee and the two adults.

Elliott also praised intense national news coverage from programs such as HLN's Nancy Grace and Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell, as well as local media and Clear Channel, which put up missing child billboards across the country.

When she is returned to Ohio, Haylee will be placed in the custody of her grandmother, Elliott said. (Will she be safe with the grandmother. The grandmother raised the mother, who thinks that following a registered sex offender cross country is fine, and the uncle, a registered sex offender. There appears to be a problem in the family.) The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force had offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of 27-year-old Potter.

Potter was wanted on a state warrant for parole violation and a federal warrant for probation violation. He is a convicted tier three sex offender, according to the U.S. Marshals Service, a unit of the Justice Department.

While on the run, Potter and Watson were reportedly seen on surveillance video on May 31 at a Wal-Mart Store in Marion, Ohio, 40 miles from Mansfield. Haylee was not on that video.

Adding to concerns, Watson's roommate, Samantha Covert, said last week in an interview on Nancy Grace that she saw the little girl in bed with her mother and Potter the morning they disappeared. Covert said Watson carried a basket of clothing, pillows and blankets.

Watson will likely face state charges, including harboring a fugitive, according to Elliott.

In addition to other charges, he said Potter may be prosecuted under the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act, a federal sex offender registration and self-reporting law that carries a multi-year felony sentence if violated.

On its Web site, the Morning Star Ranch describes itself as "a community of growers of organic, pesticide-free avocados, grapefruit, persimmons, nuts, and other produce."

Elliot said he believed it is a rehab facility and also called it a Christian retreat.

Haylee Donathan's Grandmother Granted Custody

Update: There will not be an Amber Alert, instead law enforcement issued a Missing Child Alert because they could not confirm the abduction. The grandmother has custody, the mother hasn't brought her back...that's an abduction if I ever heard of one. Especially when you factor in the pervert. A Missing Child Alert is an Amber Alert without the Emergency Broadcast System.

The grandmother of little Haylee Donathan was granted emergency custody of the child. A pair of local attorneys represented Mary Watson for free. Now that Ms. Watson has custody of Haylee, law enforcement can issue an Amber Alert because the girl's mother is guilty of parental kidnapping or at least interfering with a custody order. The hands of law enforcement were tied because it is believed that Candace Watson willingly took Haylee on the run with Robbi Potter. And in this country it is not illegal to have one's children around child molesters, even though it should be. The safety and welfare of children should be paramount over parental rights.

Now the information regarding Haylee's disappearance can be broadcast over television and radio, and most important on the electronic billboards that line the roads. There have been a couple of sightings, but they all came to late to save the little girl.

Robbi Potter was in a halfway house after being convicted in 2006 of two counts of sexual battery against two children, ages 7 and 9. So you know that little Haylee is in danger. What kind of woman would put their child in that kind of danger? I can't wrap my head around the thought process that makes her think that he has done it to other children, but I am so special he won't do it to my child.

Girl Kills Mother To Be With Boyfriend

Update: The pair have been found. And it has come out that Tylar was in trouble last month for assaulting her mother.

A mother who was found slain on Monday tried to file statutory rape charges against her daughter's boyfriend before her death, a source said.

Investigators are seeking 14-year-old Tylar Marie Witt, the daughter of 47-year-old slaying victim Joanne Witt, as well as the girl's 19-year-old boyfriend, Steven Paul Colver.

Arrest warrants for murder were issued Tuesday for the girl and her boyfriend in connection with the El Dorado Hills killing of the girl's mother, authorities said.

The younger Witt and Colver are considered by police to be armed and dangerous. They both have changed their hair color to black to avoid police, said Sgt. Jim Byers of the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department.

"We do believe that the relationship between the daughter and the boyfriend may have led to this," Byers said.

Colver also goes by the name "Boston," officials said.

The pair are believed to be on the run in the Bay Area. Their vehicle was found in San Francisco, authorities said.

The mother was found dead Monday in a large home on Tattinger Court. Investigators spent much of the night going through the home to gather evidence. It's unknown how the woman was killed, but investigators said it was a "violent death."

Byers said investigators on Monday thought the younger Witt and Colver were simply missing.

"Through the night the detectives have worked on this, and through their investigation they developed the information and now we are confident that both the daughter and the boyfriend are suspects," Byers added.

A blog on the Tylar Witt's MySpace page shows she wrote entries that said "i'm just … i'm crying every day," and "TALK DOWN TO ME LIKE IM AN IMBICLIE OR A 5 YEAR OLD WHO DOESN’T *EXPLETIVE* UNDERSTAND!!! I GET IT OK!!! I DO …"

Colver is a graduate of Oak Ridge High School. Brooke Mercer, a classmate of Colver's from Oak Ridge High School, said he's not the type of person who would commit murder.

Paul Matloff, Colver's next-door neighbor, called the investigation "astonishing."

"He's never given any indication of being any kind of trouble at all, to anybody," Matloff said.

According to Matloff, Colver was planning on becoming a math teacher.

Robbi Potter's Truck Spotted In Colorado

A nationwide manhunt for fugitive sex offender Robbi Potter, who is believed traveling with a small child and her mother, is now centered in Colorado, the U.S. Marshal's Service said today.

A surveillance camera at an Ampride gas station in Stratton showed pictures of the vehicle that authorities believe Potter is driving refueling at the station on June 2.

Potter is believed to be with his girlfriend, Candace Watson, 24, and her three-year-old daughter, Haylee Elizabeth Jade Donathan.

Potter is wanted on both state and federal warrants for parole violations.

The surveillance footage from the Stratton station shows a woman, who investigators believe is Candace Watson, attempting to purchase fuel at the gas pump. Neither Potter nor Haylee were seen in the footage. (Is she still with them? Have they done something to her? Little kids have to be fed, they have to be taking her out of the truck to use the bathroom. Why has no one seen her?)

Andrew Deserto, a chief deputy U.S. Marshal, said that investigators are doing everything they can to find Potter and believe there is a likelihood that Potter, his girlfriend and the child are inColorado.

"He is a convicted sex offender — the most dangerous kind — committing sex offenses against minors," said Deserto.

"We want to get the little girl and want the guy caught and put him where he belongs," he added.

Deserto said that Potter walked away from a halfway house and is wanted for escape. (Am I the only person wondering if this guy is so dangerous, why wasn't he wearing a tracking anklet?)

The footage from Stratton is the last confirmed sighting of the truck since it was previously seen at a Wal-Mart in Marion, Ohio, on May 31.

Potter walked away from a Mansfield, Ohio, halfway house on May 28.

The truck is a 1988 two-tone black and green Chevrolet pickup truck with Ohio plate ENS9729. The truck has running boards along the sides and orange lights along the top of the front windshield visor.

"Our task force is working around the clock to locate this fugitive and ensure the safety of this little child," said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott. "We ask anyone with information to please contact our hotline immediately and help us bring a peaceful

A nationwide manhunt is underway for a convicted sex offender, his girlfriend and her 3-year-old daughter.

According to U.S. Marshals, 27-year-old Robbie Douglas Potter escaped from a halfway house in Mansfield last month with the help of his girlfriend, 24-year-old Candace Watson.

Authorities believe Potter is on the run with Watson and her daughter Haylee. Federal arrests warrants are out for both Watson and Potter.

"Our major concern in this case is little Haylee, she's the innocent victim here," says Deputy U.S. Marshal Brian Fitzgibbon.

Potter is a Tier 3 sex offender, the most serious classification. Fitzgibbon says Potter was ordered to stay away from minors.

Investigators believe the couple is driving a two-tone Chevy pickup truck with temporary Ohio plate Q645916. Investigators say the truck has a lightning bolt design on the sides and decals on the back window.

Sandra Cantu Update 26 May

The San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office investigated vandalism at Clover Road Baptist Church over the long weekend after the church’s sign was reported to be knocked to the ground.

Melissa Huckaby, accused of kidnapping, raping and murdering 8-year-old Sandra Cantu, taught Sunday school at the church before she was arrested. Her grandfather, Lane Lawless, is its pastor, and the church property has been searched several times during the investigation.

Leaders at the Clover Road Baptist Church told news sources that since Huckaby's arrest, they have received threatening calls. The posts that held up the sign were reported to be broken on Saturday, but officials didn’t speculate as to a motive.

The church is down the road from the mobile home park where both Cantu and Huckaby lived.

Sandra Cantu Update 25 May

Melissa Huckaby, the former Sunday school teacher accused of kidnapping, raping and killing 8-year-old Sandra Cantu, will face additional charges that she tried to poison two people, including another 7-year-old girl.

A revised complaint against Huckaby, 28, of Tracy, California, was made public just hours before she was due back in court on Friday.

The new charges caused another delay in the murder case, CNN afiliate KRON reported.

The complaint charged that Huckaby "did willfully and unlawfully mingle a harmful substance with food or drink" with the intent to harm the child, identified only as "Jane M. Doe."

Another alleged poisoning victim was identified as Daniel Plowman, but no age or other information was immediately provided.

The latest charges also include one count of child abuse endangerment relating to the unidentified child, who was allegedly in Huckaby's "care and custody."


Huckaby did not enter a plea in the Cantu slaying in her first two court appearances last month.

At an earlier hearing, Judge Linda L. Loftis agreed to keep the autopsy and toxicology reports under seal, citing a "great danger of public outrage."

If convicted on the murder, rape and kidnapping charges, Huckaby, could face the death penalty or life in prison without parole, authorities said.
